Everything is going down, but The Word of God meets Drug Dealers and Killers Strike again……A member of my Obnoxious Street Committee has informed us that Dr. Carolyn Showell’s nephew was shot and killed. It seems he was the son of her brother Bishop Showell, former Presiding Bishop of Bible Way Churches and the brother of BET Corrospondance Andre Showell. City police on Monday reported a Sunday night homicide in southwest Baltimore, reported a shooting in Druid Heights and have identified two other victims in recent shootings.
Officers were called at 9:33 p.m. to the 3000 block of Elizabeth Ave. in the Lakeland neighborhood where they found an adult male shot in the head. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Police did not publicly identify the victim on Monday morning or provide information on a suspect.
Police were again called to the same neighborhood Monday, to the 2500 block Marbourne Ave., where a man was shot multiple times. Police said Southern District detectives investigating.
A man also was shot in the chest in Druid Heights Monday night, police said.
Officers were called to the corner of Druid Hill Avenue and Robert Street, where they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, and his condition was not released.
Detectives with flashlights searched an alley and a fenced-in backyard on Robert Street for evidence, but few other people were around as of about 11 p.m. The Police Department’s Foxtrot helicopter circled overhead.
No suspect or motive information was available. Due to the severity of the man’s injuries, Homicide detectives were called to the scene.
Sunday night’s homicide is the ninth since Tuesday. City police have also reported 13 shootings in that time, including the Druid Heights shooting Monday. The spike in violence coincided with riots that erupted last week following the funeral for Freddie Gray, who died while in police custody.
A police department spokesman said on Sunday that the department is concerned by the recent spike in violence but declined to speculate on causes behind the increase or provide details on how the department was addressing it, saying that would compromise their tactics.
Also on Monday, police identified two victims in recent homicides. Police identified Yogesh Sheth, 49, as the victim in shooting on Friday at the Mini Market Deli in the 300 block of S. Highland Ave. in Highlandtown. Police said they were looking for at least two suspects in his death but have not released detailed descriptions of those people.
Police also identified Byron Showell, 47, as the victim in a shooting in the 2800 block of Silver Hill Ave. in Howard Park on Saturday.
